Mom’s are exceptional! Here are some suggestions on how to spend Mother’s Day weekend in Kelowna to make mom feel extra special this May.
Let someone else do the cooking
Many local restaurants are hosting a special Mother’s Day Brunch. The Gulfstream Lounge and Grill at the Four Points by Sheraton Kelowna Airport will be throwing a lavish buffet feast on Sunday, May 12 from 10 am to 1 pm that includes a build your own Mimosa and Caesar bar. Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort in Downtown Kelowna will also be organizing a brunch on Sunday, May 12 from 10 am to 2 pm. Tickets include a gift for all of the moms who attend to make her day even more memorable. Save your spot here.
Hotel Eldorado will have Afternoon Tea available on Saturday May 11 and Sunday May 12 from 2pm to 4pm at their Lakeside Dining Restaurant in the Vintage Room. Do a fun activity together
Learn how to decorate sugar cookies at the Mom and Margarita Fiesta. On Saturday May 11 from 1pm to 3pm, Lakehouse Kitchens Cooking School is hosting a class that teaches the art of precision cookie decorating. The class will include step-by-step instructions on how to mix up the perfect consistency for royal icing, and how to prepare, cut and hold the piping bags. Everything that you and your mom will need is provided, and this beginner-friendly class includes a curated welcome cocktail for every student. For more information, click here.
Take mom to the Kelowna Beer Fest at City Park! With close to 50 breweries and cideries from British Columbia coming to sample their flavours, this is a fun outdoor event that caters to any mom who likes to try new beers. There will also be food trucks onsite, games and entertainment. This 19+ event will be on Saturday, May 11 from 11 am to 3 pm and tickets can be purchased here.
If wine is more of your mom’s drink of choice, Grizzli Winery is hosting an intimate Wine and Art Workshop on Saturday, May 11 from 2 pm to 4 pm. This two-hour painting workshop is guided by local Okanagan artist Randall Young. Whether you are a budding artist or a professional designer, he will assist in unleashing your creativity. All art supplies are included, as well as a glass of wine. Kids are welcome and you can secure your spot here.
Surprise your mom with a family magic show! Leif David, a local magician will be hosting an hour of laughs, music and fun on Saturday, May 11th at 6:30pm at Emmanuel Church in West Kelowna. This is a show for all ages, and tickets are $10 at the door or online here. There will be a concession available with popcorn, cotton candy, and drinks.
Go shopping and get her a locally-made gift
The Mother-Lovin Market is on Saturday May 11 from 10am to 2:30pm at the East Kelowna Community Hall. With over 60 artisans, crafters, makers and bakers on display, there will be many options for you to find the perfect gift for mom. This special market day will also have kids activities and giveaways to celebrate moms of all kinds.
The Kelowna’s Farmers' and Crafter’s Market will host a Mother’s Day market on Saturday May 11 from 9am to 1pm at the Landmark District. Grab at bite at one of the food trucks, and then stroll through the outdoor market to pick up some fresh flowers and produce before checking out what the artisans have been creating.
Paynter’s Fruit Market in West Kelowna is opening May 1st for the season from noon to 7pm daily. Browse through all of the BC-made food products before getting mom an ice cream. Bring your camera and take some spring photos with mom while you wander through the orchards. Make sure you stop at the coffee booth - they are giving out a free coffee beverage for all moms on Mother’s Day!
