Tourism Kelowna conducts research on various aspects of the tourism industry. This market research will provide data to support the activities of branding and positioning the Kelowna destination. The information provided on this page will be updated regularly and should prove helpful in examining tourism patterns.
These at-a-glance reports share yearly highlights of key statistics including annual visitation, visitor origin, airport passenger numbers, hotel occupancy, average daily rate, room revenue and more. You can also find helpful statistics about the destination and high-level information about visitor interests and activities. These annual reports are usually updated in April each year with the prior year’s statistics.
Usually completed between every three or four years, the Visitor Intercept Survey is a series of surveys done in different seasons to collect information from visitors while in Kelowna. The visitor intercept report takes into account seasonal visitation, interest in activities and attractions, reasons for travel, and collect data about length of stay, activities completed, and spending habits.
Economic Impact Reports are also completed between every three or four years, following the Visitor Intercept Survey, and calculate employment numbers, taxation levels, visitor spending and overall economic impact to the local economy.
On occasion, Tourism Kelowna will partner with major events to conduct economic impact studies when held in Kelowna and area.
