Thanks to its mild climate, location on the shore of Okanagan Lake, and proximity to parks and mountain trails, Kelowna is a city that attracts people who embrace an active lifestyle.
Nearby parks such as Knox Mountain and Myra-Bellevue are laced with multi-use trails for hikers and mountain bikers. In town, the Mission Creek Greenway and the new Okanagan Rail Trail appeal to road cyclists and families exploring on two wheels.
Out on the water, the Kelowna Paddle Trail entices kayakers and stand-up paddle boarders to explore 27-km of shoreline along Okanagan Lake. In summer, learn to SUP and practice yoga at the same time through a sunset program with the Kelowna Yacht Club, or try an outdoor yoga class at a winery while overlooking vineyards and lake views.
These opportunities to actively immerse in nature are good for physical and mental health and help visitors feel centered. But if you’re short on time or the weather isn’t cooperating, there are numerous paths to wellness indoors. Drop in for a spin class at one of Kelowna’s fitness centres such as B Indoor Cycle & Strength Studio or the Downtown YMCA. Challenge yourself with a barre class or power yoga at Oranj Fitness.
Then, work out the knots and kinks at a local spa. Beyond Wrapture Day Spa offers a therapeutic twist on wine with its Vinotherapy massage, a popular treatment that rubs in Red or White Vino-lotion that’s high in antioxidants and helps strengthen and repair connective tissue. For a side-by-side couples massage or a classic hot stone massage, head to the Spa at The Grand for an afternoon of pampering.
With the right combination of exercise and rehabilitation—including healthy farm-to-table meals at local restaurants—wake up ready to repeat your wellness routine.
Tourism Kelowna would like to thank Westbank First Nation and Okanagan Indian Band for the privilege to live, work, and play on the tm̓xʷúlaʔxʷ (land), that is the unceded and traditional territory of syilx Okanagan peoples, the original stewards of these lands and to whom we give thanks to as our hosts
