Summer 2022 in Kelowna was a success for media coverage, with numerous pieces highlighting the region being published through a variety of outlets. Here are some highlights of the coverage that resulted from recent media trips and familiarization (FAM) tours.

Olivier de Maisonneuve visited the Okanagan and Similkameen in the spring, with resulting coverage in Quebec-based, SamyRabbat.com:

Brian Webb, Owner of the gay-culture website, HomoCulture, visited Kelowna during Pride 2022 and wrote three articles highlighting 2SLGBTQIA+ travel ideas in our community:

Afar.com published an article by Lisa Kadane titled “This Small City Is One of Canada’s Best-Kept Secrets,” highlighting accessible options for outdoor adventure and wine tours in and around Kelowna.

Destination BC worked with Calgary-based writer, Debbie Olsen, on a piece for the Calgary Herald, “Olsen: Go for broke on a girls getaway to B.C.," that covers outdoor adventure options for adventurous spirits.

Our food scene was highlighted throughout the Post Media network by Linda Barnard; her article, “Where are the best places to eat in Kelowna?”,  is a result of a FAM tour we hosted for the BC Chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) in the spring.

With the change of seasons, hosting travel media has picked up again. Destination BC brought a group of five international media focused on food and wine in September, while Mhairri Woodhall, travel columnist for the Calgary Sun, visited for a family-friendly travel piece. We also assisted in hosting a group of wine writers that Wine of BC brought to the area on a FAM tour before they attended Terrior in Vancouver. Stay tuned for coverage resulting from these and other recent visits.
