Hosting an event in Kelowna and the Central Okanagan? Share it with locals and visitors on tourismkelowna.com. Use these guidelines to ensure your event is eligible and presented in the best possible way.

1. What Counts as an Event?

An event is a planned public or social occasion that is open to the community or visitors.

We accept events taking place in:

  • Lake Country
  • Kelowna
  • West Kelowna
  • Westbank First Nation
  • Peachland

Events outside this area may be considered for Tourism Kelowna member/advertisers.


2. Events We Cannot List

To keep our event calendar relevant and community-focused, we do not list:

  • Real estate or development-related events
  • Multi-level marketing or primarily sales-driven events
  • Regularly scheduled private fitness classes (except community-hosted)
  • Occupation-specific conferences or closed professional events
  • Audience-restricted events not open to the public
  • Events that do not align with Tourism Kelowna’s community, sustainability, and DEI values


3. Happy Hours, Specials & Weekly Events

Certain recurring or entertainment-based events are featured exclusively on the Happy Hours, Specials & Weekly Events Calendar, including:

  • Happy Hours and drink specials
  • Food specials or feature nights
  • Trivia or games nights
  • Karaoke
  • Open mic nights

Submission Requirements:

These events must only use one of the following categories when submitted:

  • Happy Hours & Specials
  • Trivia, Games, Karaoke, Open Mic

These events will not appear on the general event calendars.


4. Event Details to Include

Make your event easy to find and attend:

  • Title & Description: Clear, complete, and visitor-friendly
  • Dates & Times: Include any recurring schedule
  • Website Link: Direct link to the event page, not just your business homepage
  • Adult-Only Events: If your event is 19+ (adults only), this must be clearly noted in the event description.

Tourism Kelowna may edit titles and descriptions for clarity and brand alignment.

Category Assignment:

Tourism Kelowna reserves the right to reassign your event to the category that best reflects its nature, ensuring visitors can easily find it.


5. Image Requirements

High-quality images make your listing stand out.

  • Format: JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, or BMP
  • Minimum Size: 1360 × 900 pixels, landscape orientation only
  • Content: Clear, vibrant, no logos, text, or graphics
  • Ownership: You must own the image or have usage rights

Images that don’t meet these requirements will be replaced with Tourism Kelowna-approved visuals.

  • Enhance the visitor experience and contribute to a year-round tourism economy
  • Respect the land, culture, and community, including the unceded and traditional territory of the syilx/Okanagan people
  • Are inclusive, accessible, and safe for all audiences

7. Terms of Submission

By submitting an event, you agree that:

  • Your information and images are accurate and properly licensed
  • Tourism Kelowna may edit, display, and promote your event
  • Publication is not guaranteed, and event listings may be removed at our discretion
