February in Kelowna means a slower pace, with snow-dusted mountains framing Okanagan Lake, fresh, crisp air, and a peaceful rhythm of rest and play. Spend the day carving fresh turns on the ski hills, strolling quiet lakeside paths, or ducking into cozy cafés and wineries where warmth comes easy. The third Monday in February, on February 16, 2026, marks Family Day in much of Canada, including BC. It’s a welcome pause in the heart of winter, and the perfect moment to lean into time together. In and around Kelowna, the long weekend opens the door to snowy adventures, cozy indoor escapes, and family-friendly experiences that make winter feel full, not long.

Big White Ski Resort—recently voted Best International Ski Resort for Families in the 2025 Out & About with Kids Readers’ Choice Awards—and SilverStar Mountain Resort offer plenty of family fun if you're craving snowy adventures. 

For those who prefer to stay indoors, head to the Kelowna Family Fun Day at MNP Place on February 16 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Activities include a bouncy castle, scavenger hunt, free skating, and more.

Celebrate the Month of Love

There are so many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day in Kelowna. From slow mornings to cozy evenings, it’s easy to shape a full day together, whether that’s with your partner, your bestie, or a group of friends. Start with a delectable brunch, go for a scenic walk or skate at Stuart Park, warm up during the final days of the Okanagan Hot Chocolate Festival, then settle in for a delicious dinner to end the day.

For a fun night out early in the week, catch Honey Graham's Valentine's Day Spectacular, featuring a variety of drag entertainers, at the Kelowna Community Theatre on February 11. A couple of days later, on February 13 and 14, Ballet Kelowna will present three evocative works with its mixed program, Restless Balance. Before the Friday or Saturday show, book a reservation at nearby OAK + CRU Social Kitchen & Wine Bar to enjoy its 3‑Course Prix Fixe Couples Menu

Experience Live Music

Fireside Festival, Kelowna’s Winter Arts and Music Festival, returns from January 31 to February 1 with a new two-day, multi-stage format hosted entirely at BNA Brewing Co & Eatery. The festival line-up brings together nationwide touring acts and local favourites, including headliners Miley Serious, The Free Label, The Sponges, and Rumpus.

February brings rock music to Kelowna. Kicking things off on February 4 is BIG SUGAR, who will perform at the Kelowna Community Theatre as part of the band's 30th anniversary "HEMI-VISION." Nearby at Prospera Place, Megadeath, Anthrax, and Exodus are bringing the heavy metal energy to the stage on February 18. Days later, on February 24, iconic rock bands +LIVE+ and Big Wreck will take the stage.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts (RCA) is hosting several live music performances in February, including Hawksley WorkmanJoe Grass, and the Sitkovetsky Trio. Opera Kelowna will also perform its 2026 studio production, Jacqueline: A Portrait of Jacqueline du Pré, at the RCA on February 27 and 28.  

On February 6, Julian Pellicano will step onto the podium for his first appearance as Music Director of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, conducting Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, as well as other notable works. 

Close out the month with a captivating performance from Matt Andersen as part of his The Hammer & The Rose Tour, which will touch down at the Kelowna Community Theatre on February 28.

Black History Month

February is Black History Month, and there are celebrations taking place throughout the month, including:

Festivals & Multi-Day Events
  • Taste Around 2026 kicks off in January but extends into February—make it a night out by booking dinner and then taking in one of the many shows happening around town. 
  • On February 15, SilverStar Mountain Resort will host the first-ever Vernon Winter Carnival Après Ski Party, with live music, dancing, and high-energy mountain vibes. 
  • Celebrate the Lunar New Year at Kelowna's indoor Spring Lantern Festival, hosted by the OCCA Communities Association on Saturday, January 22. 
  • From February 26 to March 1, the Iconic Wineries of British Columbia is bringing The Iconic Après-Ski Lounge to the heart of Big White Village.
Performing Arts & Comedy
Sports
  • Hockey action continues through February, so gather your friends or family and head to Prospera Place to cheer on the Kelowna Rockets on home ice.
  • The annual TELUS Kelowna Cup, which includes categories for young racers and families, will take place at Big White on February 21. Registration closes at 3:30 p.m. on February 20.

Weather

Like December and January, February in Kelowna stays cool, with average daytime highs around 4°C / 39°F and lows around -5°C / 23°F. Winter skies tend to be cloudier, with a familiar mix of rain and snow, much of which melts quickly when temperatures hover on the milder side. If you’re planning to spend time outdoors, pack for changing conditions. It feels cooler along the lake and at higher elevations, where snowfall is more consistent.
