Natural Routes and Elevated Views
Whether you're an experienced lead climber or new to bouldering, Kelowna offers some of the Okanagan’s best rock climbing, with dramatic scenery and approachable access. With hundreds of established outdoor routes—including sport, trad, and mixed climbing—and one of Canada’s top bouldering destinations, this region is built for adventure on the rock.
Popular outdoor climbing areas like Mount Boucherie, Lonely Crags, and The Boulderfields provide a range of grades and climbing styles. The Boulderfields, in particular, is a bucket-list destination for boulderers, with over 1,200 problems ranging from beginner-friendly to V14, all detailed in local guidebooks Kelowna Rock Climbing and Okanagan Bouldering.
Prefer to warm up indoors? Local climbing gyms such as Beyond the Crux Climbing Gym or Gneiss Climbing offer top rope, lead, and bouldering terrain for all skill levels, along with rental gear and technique classes.
Before you head out, make sure you’re properly equipped with all essential climbing gear. Respect local climbing ethics: do not attempt climbs that are still in development, especially if you see a flagged bolt or signage indicating a closed project. Stay on marked trails, pack out what you pack in, and help protect access by following Leave No Trace principles.
