May 29, 2021, was a great day in Kelowna, not only was the weather warm and sunny but it was also the second annual Love for Kelowna Day! Throughout National Tourism Week, which ran from May 23 to 30, we posted profiles on the #exploreKelowna blog and videos to social media of several residents sharing why they love Kelowna while encouraging others to prepare and post their own stories and photos on May 29. In addition to the social media activation, the Kelowna Visitor Centre offered 15% off of Love For Kelowna apparel, had delicious cookies made by Sweets By Sask to hand out, and put together a scavenger hunt around downtown for prizes.

Over 160 social media posts about Love for Kelowna Day were made by residents and businesses. In addition, our local news outlets helped spread the word, running stories focused on our activities, as well as interviewing locals about why they love it here. Not surprisingly, the weather and all the amazing amenities and access to nature were among the top comments.

Thank you to everyone who showed off their love for Kelowna on Saturday! We look forward to continuing this tradition next year as a wrap-up to National Tourism Week with even more fanfare, and maybe even in-person events.
