Tourism Kelowna is pleased to announce it has received a Silver Dolphin award at this year’s Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in the ‘Tourism Films Destinations – Cities’ category.

The winning video, “Explore More of Kelowna in All Seasons,” focuses on people experiencing the city year-round and showcases a wide range of tourism experiences in and around Kelowna, which sits on the unceded ancestral territory of the Okanagan / syilx people, who are the original stewards of the land.

“We are thrilled to receive this international award. We recognize and applaud the passionate work put in by our team, the featured local businesses, and the videographer, which led to the creation of this award-winning video,” says Tourism Kelowna President & CEO, Lisanne Ballantyne.

“Receiving this award provides an opportunity to be seen by thousands of people around the world who we may not have been able to reach previously, with the message that Kelowna is a year-round destination with a wide range of experiences in every season.”

The awards ceremony was held on September 26 at the 15th Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in Côte d’Azur, France. Out of nearly 800 submissions from 46 countries, 212 productions made it to the shortlist.

“It was an honour to receive the news from overseas that we had won this award. The video aims to encourage people to visit and explore more of Kelowna by going behind the scenes with a tour, hearing from local business owners, and learning about the culture of the syilx people,” says Tourism Kelowna project lead, Steve Small.

“We could not have completed this video without the support of our local businesses and videographer, Nic Collar, as well as the support of District of Lake Country and Visit Westside.”

Kelowna was listed among fellow award-winning destinations: Conil de la Frontera (Spain), Jacksonville (US), and Wroclaw (Poland). The international jury, consisting of nearly 100 experts, praised the exceptional quality of this year’s entries.
