In partnership with the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission and Accelerate Okanagan, our team is excited to announce the launch of Phase Two of the OKGo campaign, which tells the stories of innovators and entrepreneurs in key business sectors to raise awareness of the Central Okanagan’s economic and tourism opportunities and to position the region for future growth.

The multi-year campaign provides a cohesive regional story focused on five key economic sectors, namely Agriculture, Viticulture, Aerospace, Advanced Manufacturing, and Digital Tech, that each of the partner organizations can share and leverage to further their unique mandate and individual goals. For Tourism Kelowna, that means strategically targeting planners to attract business events to our region, in alignment with Destination Canada’s Global Sector Strategy

"The OKGo campaign differentiates our community in a sea of other amazing destinations by providing extra value to meeting planners and delegates," says Tourism Kelowna's Business Development Consultant, and OKGO lead, Nicolle Gomez de Sousa. "Planners can offer unique and relevant off-site tours, and powerful networking opportunities, while also selecting passionate local keynote speakers that can really augment their meeting agendas and ensure their business event is impactful."

Phase One of the campaign—which led to the receipt of two International Economic Development Council (IEDC) awards—included a 30-second video, website, and print magazine, while Phase Two includes Vol. 2 of the print magazine, additions and updates to the website, including a Community section, as well as video content and other promotional assets. As part of Phase Two, our team has also started hosting economic sector strategy familiarization (FAM) tours for our Meetings & Conferences (M&C) program partners.

The next phase of the project will include more in-depth profiles of local entrepreneurs and innovators, as well as attendance at events and hosting site visits for strategic businesses and industries.

We encourage our M&C program partners, as well as other interested business leaders and community partners, to access and use the Media Kit, which includes key messages, a fact sheet, industry profiles, and a promo kit, as you see fit. If you'd like a physical copy of Vol. 2 of the OKGo magazine, email our team. Additional information on how to leverage OKGo to attract business events is available through our Industry News Centre
