Taste Around showcases the breadth of Kelowna’s food scene, with restaurants creating thoughtfully designed multi-course dinner menus that introduce dishes not typically found on the regular menu, or highlight a tasting of signature favourites.
Dining experiences range from casual to elevated, with many restaurants offering optional wine or cocktail pairings to complement their menus. With a variety of flavours and price points to choose from, Taste Around is well-suited to everything from date nights and dinners with friends to low-key evenings out.
As menus and pricing vary by restaurant, reviewing menu details in advance on the official Taste Around website or participating restaurants’ social channels or website can help you find an experience that suits your taste and budget.
How to Make the Most of Taste Around
Here are a few simple tips to help you savour the experience.
Make a Reservation (Or Two)
If you’re looking to dine in, making a reservation can help you avoid disappointment.
Taste Around draws thousands of locals and visitors, and popular restaurants can fill up quickly after 5 pm. On a weekday evening, you may be able to walk in, but on the weekend, we recommend making dinner reservations at restaurants that accept them.
Try Somewhere New
Being a regular somewhere certainly isn’t a bad thing, but Taste Around is the excuse you needed to step outside your usual rotation. With curated menus and fixed pricing, it’s one of the best times to try one of Kelowna’s newer restaurants, a new-to-you cuisine, or a chef you’ve been curious about.
Turn Taste Around Into a Winter Getaway
Taste Around is an easy reason to turn dinner plans into an overnight escape or cozy winter getaway. Winter in Kelowna moves at a more relaxed pace, and as Canada’s first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Kelowna offers plenty of foodie spots and sip spots beyond the Taste Around.
During the day, you can go for brunch, do a guided winery tour, brewery, distillery, or cidery tour, and try a hot chocolate as part of the Okanagan Hot Chocolate Festival (which takes place during Taste Around), all before settling in to try a tasting
Some participating restaurants located at resorts and hotels also offer special rates or stay-and-dine packages during the event, making it even easier to build a short winter escape around your meal. Be sure to check Taste Around's website for more information on accommodation packages.
