Wondering how to stay fit while travelling? You’ve come to the right place. Here are some ways you can build a little balance into your Kelowna vacation.

Drop-In Fitness and Unique Studio Experiences

Many people think of outdoor adventures when they think of Kelowna, but we also have a variety of fitness gyms in Kelowna that visitors can access on a drop-in basis.

Lagree Kelowna will make you shake like no other. Through slow and controlled movements, you’ll get a full-body resistance workout that’s especially good for core-strengthening and also joint-friendly.

At SPINCO Kelowna, drop-ins come with free spin shoe rentals and a high-energy experience. There’s also a discounted first-timer two-pack that works for short stays. And for bootcamp-style group fitness classes led by knowledgeable instructors, drop in at REC Fitness

Prefer something more grounding? Our Yoga Space offers a traveller’s one-week unlimited pass, while Oxygen Yoga & Fitness has an infrared-heated studio where you can sweat through yoga and fitness fusion classes on a drop-in basis.

Maybe your idea of fitness is a little more functional. Gneiss Climbing and Beyond the Crux Climbing Gym both welcome drop-ins, so you can try climbing or continue your routine. There’s also Airhouse Kelowna, which brings parkour, trampolines and ninja-style obstacles into the mix.

If you’re after a traditional gym, the Kelowna Downtown YMCA offers accessible drop-in access in the heart of the city, and over in the Lower Mission, the H2O Adventure + Fitness Centre is ideal for families. It pairs an accessible fitness facility with aquatic fun for everyone.

Local tip: Give yourself an extra 10–15 minutes when visiting a new fitness studio so you can park, fill your water and get comfortable before class starts.

Stay Somewhere That Keeps You Moving

There are plenty of wellness hotels in Kelowna that offer movement-friendly perks, so it’s easy to stay active.

For instance, Hotel Zed Kelowna has in-room bike storage, plus roller skate and longboard rentals that are ready when you are. Cyclists will also appreciate Accent Inns Kelowna, where there’s free bike rentals, in-room storage and a bike wash and tuning station help you hit the trails with confidence. Even budget-friendly options like Econo Lodge Kelowna offer practical perks such as secure bike storage lockers.

Several waterfront and resort-style properties also build movement right into the guest experience. At Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort, complimentary bike rentals allow you to cruise the waterfront, and The Royal Kelowna keeps winter visitors moving in the winter with free snowshoe and saucer sled rentals. And over at Hotel Eldorado at Eldorado Resort, guests can ease into the day with complimentary Sunday yoga, and Manteo at Eldorado Resort adds even more variety with a Saturday Pilates class and on-site tennis courts.

Local tip: Kelowna has one of Canada's most extensive municipal cycling networks for its size. With over 300 km of on-street bike lanes and 40-70 km of separated paved multi-use paths, it’s a great place to bike, so definitely take advantage if your hotel offers free bikes.

Outdoor Movement with a View

With relatively mild winters and long shoulder seasons, you can bike, hike, and walk in Kelowna year-round. In fact, mountain biking season often starts earlier than in many other parts of Canada, giving you even more time to explore local trails.

When winter does settle in, there are plenty of winter activities to keep you busy. Nordic skiing, winter hiking, snowshoeing, and nearby ski resorts will make you want to be outside, even in the colder months. At Big White Ski Resort, Powderhounds Adaptive Snow Sports offers adaptive ski and snowboard lessons, expanding access to on-mountain experiences.

Kelowna’s hiking trails range from flat nature walks to scrambles that reward you with panoramic lake views. Check out these underappreciated trails in Kelowna and beyond if you’re looking for quieter trails.

If you don’t want to pack hiking poles or dedicated footwear, the Okanagan Lake shoreline offers plenty of flat-but-scenic walks:

Travellers looking for adaptive, supported experiences can connect with Adaptive Adventures (formerly CRIS Adaptive), which facilitates year-round outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, paddling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Kelowna’s a destination for both performance and pleasure biking. Mountain bikers can tap into extensive trail networks, while the Okanagan Rail Trail and the iconic Myra Canyon Trestles are perfect for road and leisure riders.

There’s no need to BYOB (bring your own bike) unless you want to. You can rent adaptable bikes from Kelowna Bike Rentals, or choose from e-bikes, cruisers, and tandem options at Myra Canyon Bicycle Rentals & Tours, Lakeside Eco-Sports, or Pedego Oyama.

In summer, lake activities like stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and wakesurfing are part of the local rhythm. Rent human-powered watercrafts at Okanagan Beach Rentals, conveniently located at Tugboat Bay Beach, Rotary Beach Park, and Bear Creek Provincial Park.

Local tip: Kelowna has a 27-kilometre, self-guided route called the Kelowna Paddle Trail that’s marked by a series of buoys just offshore. There are lots of popular launch spots along the route, so you have a choice on where to start.

Fuel Up the Kelowna Way

There are plenty of healthy restaurants in Kelowna that will leave you satisfied without slowing you down.

HUMO Kelowna leans into locally sourced ingredients and bold Asian and Latin flavours, with shareable plates that feel vibrant and balanced. Lunch or dinner, Broken Anchor serves up sustainable seafood and plenty of gluten-free options. And for a casual post-hike or lake-day meal, Naked Café’s vegan menu delivers nourishing bowls, handhelds, and salads that satisfy.

If you’re visiting during harvest season (mid-April to October), local farmers' markets and orchard stops are worth building into your plans. Twin Oaks Certified Organic Orchard, KLO Farm Market, and the Kelowna Farmers’ & Crafters’ Market are all destinations for picking up picnic supplies, road trip snacks, or a simple self-catered breakfast.

If you’re short on time, you can always grab a smoothie, snack, or protein-forward meal to go from Energy Den Kelowna or BLK Box

Local tip: Picking fruit is an amazing way to fit in some low-intensity, functional movement and deepen your connection to what you’re about to eat. Stop at a U-Pick orchard in while you're in town!
