Here are a few easy ways to enjoy Kelowna responsibly during your visit:
Support Biosphere-committed businesses. Look for the Biosphere icon on listings and choose operators working toward sustainable practices aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Pack reusables. Bring a refillable water bottle and reusable coffee cup. Many restaurants, cafés, hotels, and the Kelowna Visitor Centre offer water bottle filling stations.
Learn the story of the land. Visit the Sncəwips Heritage Museum or the Okanagan Heritage Museum to learn about the syilx/Okanagan people, the original custodians of this land, and their teachings on caring for the earth and one another.
Choose reusable bags and straw-free options. Carry souvenirs in reusable shopping bags and opt out of single-use straws or bring your own.
