The third annual Love for Kelowna Day returns this Saturday, May 28, 2022, to pay tribute to the tourism industry in the Central Okanagan and to acknowledge all the amazing things our area has to offer residents and visitors.  To celebrate the region, individuals and businesses are encouraged to proudly wear Kelowna or Okanagan gear, support local businesses, and share what they love about Kelowna by posting on social media.

Those who post to Instagram will be entered to win a Kelowna prize pack valued at $500; details are available on Tourism Kelowna’s website. Love for Kelowna Day is about drawing attention to the important contributions tourism makes to our community and our individual lives.

The occasion has been marked by a City of Kelowna Proclamation and Mayor Colin Basran had this to say: “Love for Kelowna Day is a great opportunity to show our local businesses how much we have appreciated their perseverance and resiliency over the past couple of years. I hope residents and visitors alike make the most of the third annual Love for Kelowna Day this Saturday and get out to enjoy all our city has to offer.”

This year, Love for Kelowna Day aligns with the kick-off of Tourism Week in Canada, which takes place May 29 – June 4, 2022. This year’s theme, “Travel Now: For Work, Life, and Play!” celebrates the return of travel and tourism.

“A strong visitor economy positively impacts our community in numerous ways. The contributions of our local tourism industry—like job opportunities, tax revenue that supports increased infrastructure, and world-class events—make Kelowna an attractive place to live, work, and play,” said Lisanne Ballantyne, President and CEO of Tourism Kelowna. “It's important to celebrate the impact tourism has on the local economy and on the quality of life of area residents. I invite everyone to help us celebrate who we are and where we live on Love for Kelowna Day and to learn more about the value of tourism during Tourism Week.”
