Blossoms, Fresh Flavours, and Outdoor Energy
When spring arrives in Kelowna, the valley wakes up in a burst of colour. Orchards fill with pink and white blossoms, vineyards stretch toward warmer days, and trails come alive with wildflowers. It’s a season of new beginnings, where every outing feels fresh and full of possibility.
By late April, blossoms sweep across the orchards, turning the hillsides into a painter’s palette of colour. Cherry, apple, and peach trees bloom in sequence, offering weeks of beauty and the perfect backdrop for scenic drives, cycling, or leisurely walks. Vineyards and wineries reawaken with new vintages ready to taste, and patio season begins anew.
Spring is the season of the first harvests. Local farms and markets begin to brim with asparagus, rhubarb, and greens, while chefs showcase these ingredients in seasonal dishes. It’s also the time for new wine releases, making spring a wonderful moment to explore Kelowna’s wineries before the busy summer months.
As snow melts from the valley floor, trails open up for hiking and biking. The Okanagan Rail Trail offers a flat, scenic ride along turquoise lakes, while Knox Mountain provides panoramic views of Kelowna waking up for the season. Wildflowers begin to bloom on hillsides and meadows, rewarding early-season explorers with bursts of colour.

Spring also marks the return of lakeside leisure. Cafés and restaurants roll out their patios, perfect for sipping coffee in the sun or enjoying a glass of local wine at golden hour. While the lake is still cool for swimming, it’s ideal for paddling. Quiet, calm mornings make spring one of the best times to kayak or SUP along the Kelowna Paddle Trail.
Spring in Kelowna is about fresh starts and simple joys, blossoms on the breeze, first tastes of the season, and days filled with outdoor energy. It’s a time to reconnect with nature, explore the valley in bloom, and embrace the feeling of possibility that comes with longer, sunnier days.
