Kelowna is magical in the winter. Snowy blankets cover the vineyards and orchards, the air is crisp and pure, and on a clear day, you can see the surrounding snow-dusted mountains reflected on Okanagan Lake’s glassy surface.
Mild valley temperatures invite families and friends downtown to ice skate by the lake at Stuart Park. Or, head to nearby mountains for a winter hike with rewarding views.
Explore any of our wineries to admire the snowy vineyards and sample some of Canada's finest wines. At higher elevations, the light Okanagan Champagne powder accumulates at nearby Big White Ski Resort, less than an hour’s drive from Kelowna.
There’s plenty to do indoors in Kelowna, too. Downtown, you can visit a museum, browse boutiques, grab a seasonal beer at a craft brewery, warm up with a latte or hot chocolate at a cozy café, or relax over a farm-to-table meal.
Check out the Discovery Pass on the last page of the Winter Guide for complimentary tastings and discounts to great winter attractions. Pick up a copy in the Kelowna Visitor Centre or any of the participating businesses.
