This year, our team at the Kelowna Visitor Centre (KVC) was able to expand its local consignment retail program by 21 percent, now supporting more than 100 local businesses, entrepreneurs, artists, and artisans.
Our retail program was created to generate increased spending and economic impact in the Central Okanagan by carrying a wide variety of local products both in the Kelowna Visitor Centre and through our Love for Kelowna online store. We now carry more than 1,000 fabulous locally-made or -inspired products including food and drink items made with local ingredients, original artwork, sustainable products, and more—visit the Support Local section of our online store to see most of our local suppliers and their products.
During the holiday season, to further encourage visitors and residents to support local, we are once again offering a variety of promotions including:
- Free, no contact delivery within the Central Okanagan (local pickup is also available). All local orders placed by the end of the day on December 21 will be delivered in time for Christmas.
- $10 flat-rate shipping elsewhere in Canada—orders of $150 or more before tax qualify for free shipping anywhere in Canada.
- Receive a pair of Love for Kelowna gloves at no additional charge with the purchase of any Love for Kelowna or Kelowna Vibes clothing item (offer valid on December 26 only).
By providing these promotions, Kelowna and its great artists and artisans will travel in the form of gifts and continue to tell the story of our community. Plus, for every purchase made, one tree will be planted in BC through our partnership with One Tree Planted; to date, purchases made through our retail program have resulted in more than 6,000 trees being planted.
The KVC will be closed on December 24, 25, 26, and January 1. Throughout the remainder of the holidays, the KVC will be open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the exception of December 31, when the centre will be open from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. to participate in and support some of the New Year's festivities happening in downtown Kelowna.
