We are excited to welcome and introduce Sasha Taylor, who recently joined Tourism Kelowna's team as the Manager of Community & Visitor Engagement at the Kelowna Visitor Centre (KVC). Sasha spent time before the holidays cross-training with Kaitlyn Ellis, who has now started her maternity leave; Sasha will be in the role for an 18-month term while Kaitlyn spends time with her new baby and family. In her role, Sasha will oversee the day-to-day operations at the Community & Visitor Engagement team while managing a talented team of Community Specialists and collaborating on many of our partnership events.
Before joining our team, Sasha spent nine years working in international education, which equipped her with a unique toolbox of skills related to customer service, diversity and inclusion, and human resource management. Prior to that, she worked for a non-profit organization for a few years, where she was able to draw on her psychology and sociology education.
Sasha was born in Victoria and has lived in many parts of the province before calling the Central Okanagan home. She and her husband enjoy adventuring around the region with their two boys, and she is a "self-professed nerd, hot-yoga enthusiast, and cider aficionado."
"My husband and children are Indigenous, so spending time immersing myself in and engaging with local Indigenous culture and knowledge is very important to me," says Sasha. "I deeply value inclusivity, diversity, and reconciliation efforts and initiatives, and I look forward to engaging with these initiatives [at the Kelowna Visitor Centre] over the coming months."
