We’re deeply saddened to share the passing of Walter Dionne, our longest-serving volunteer and a cherished member of the Tourism Kelowna family for 20 years. Walter’s warmth, kindness, and genuine care made a difference to countless visitors, locals, and those who had the pleasure of working alongside him over his decades of service.

Walter brought a lifelong commitment to hospitality, having spent 38 years at Calona Wines before retirement and joining Tourism Kelowna as a volunteer. His dedication to supporting Kelowna’s hospitality and tourism industry spanned nearly six decades, an incredible legacy.

Walter’s contributions were immeasurable, not only in the hours he volunteered but in the lasting impact he made on our team, our partners, and all the people he met along the way.

Walter’s wife, Eileen, has also been a valued member of our volunteer team for the past 18 years, and our thoughts are with her and their family during this difficult time.

Today, on International Volunteer Day, we are reminded that it is individuals like Walter and Eileen who give life to our work. We know Walter’s legacy will live on through all those whose lives he touched.

A Memorial Service for Walter will take place at Mountainview Church tomorrow, Saturday, December 6, at 12 p.m.
