This summer, our team welcomed over 20 business event professionals and meeting planners to attend two carefully curated familiarization (FAM) tours, designed to showcase our region as more than just a beautiful location—it’s a destination built for meaningful connections, authentic experiences, and world-class events. 

Our team led the first FAM tour in mid-June, with the generous support of numerous hosting partners. In early July, we were proud to support the team from Delta Hotels by Marriott Grand Okanagan Resort as they took the lead on the second FAM tour. 

The itineraries for both tours provided attendees with a true sense of what makes meetings and conferences in Kelowna so memorable, featuring an array of uniquely Kelowna experiences such as:

• Unforgettable receptions and foodie excursions at area parks, local restaurants and wineries, rooftop and floating event spaces, and more.
• Site tours showcasing the array of venues, along with information about air access and destination support for events. 
• Opportunities to connect with the land and get centred, such as outdoor yoga and hiking. 
• Exhilarating helicopter tours, boat tours of Okanagan Lake, and agricultural tours showcasing farming practices. 
• Enjoying perfectly ripe produce picked straight from the orchards and fields. 

During the June FAM tour, attendees had the opportunity to connect with the community in a hands-on and impactful way. At Helen’s Acres Community Farm, guests transplanted baby lettuce and harvested 250 pounds of fresh produce, demonstrating how event programs can give back in meaningful ways when held in Kelowna. This was a standout stop for many, highlighting Kelowna’s commitment to sustainability and community-driven values.

An equally standout moment from the July FAM tour was the starlit concert at Mission Hill by Canadian singer-songwriter and author Jann Arden, which created a memorable finale that beautifully blended culinary excellence, thanks to the preceding long-table dinner, with the breathtaking natural beauty of the region.

The FAM tours allowed us to perfectly showcase the laid-back luxury, invigorating energy, and seamless connectivity that Kelowna offers. The enriching experiences and activities showcased were made possible by the dedication of chefs, venues, hoteliers, farmers, artists, and community leaders, each contributing their expertise and passion to highlight Kelowna’s strengths as an event destination.
