We proudly announce that after several years of dedicated study, Tourism Kelowna's Director of Destination Development, Chris Lewis, has officially graduated from Destinations International's Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) program, noted as the tourism industry's highest individual education achievement.
The program, recommended for those individuals working for a destination organization with at least three years of industry-related experience, included in-person sessions and the completion of written reports that applied learnings to the participant's destination. Through the program, Chris completed four core courses (strategic issues in destination management, destination marketing and sales, destination leadership, and destination advocacy and community relations) and two electives (Development of the Destination Experience and Destination Economic Development). The final step in earning the designation was completing a comprehensive and practice-oriented final exam.
Chris was officially recognized as a CDME graduate at the Destinations International 2023 Annual Convention, which was held in Dallas, Texas, from July 18 to 20.
