But it's easy to work this adult pastime into a Kelowna itinerary after a hike or a beach afternoon, especially with the right winery, whether the day's based in Kelowna, West Kelowna, or Lake Country. Here are the family-friendly stops worth building in.

Kids get their own hatchlings colour and chill kit to stay busy while the grown-ups settle in, and the small gift shop makes it an easy add-on to a West Kelowna wine day.

Kelowna Wineries

Kelowna's own wineries range from the airport area to the Mission, most within 10 to 20 minutes of downtown.

Summerhill Pyramid Winery

You don't have to take the kids to Egypt to see a pyramid. Summerhill Pyramid Winery is known for its beautiful vineyards and views, as well as its organic winemaking process. Kids can look for fish in the indoor-outdoor pond, and families can wander the grounds together past the underground Kekuli and the gardens, with plenty of history and fun learning along the way. Summerhill's on-site organic Bistro offers sourdough crust pizza that's perfect for the kiddos. The daily Pyramid Visit and Tasting Tour runs at 2 PM every day from May 1 through the end of September, a 45-minute walk through the winery and pyramid with a tasting of four wines included, and kids join for free.

The View Winery

Set in a vintage 1922 apple packing house, The View Winery offers an authentic Okanagan experience, nestled amid rolling orchards and vines just minutes from downtown Kelowna, with fresh, crisp whites, fruit-forward reds, and handcrafted apple ciders. Families can book a picnic package (available May through September) with a flight of five wines or ciders in the historic tasting room, followed by a private table set with linens under the old-growth apple trees and a gourmet charcuterie box. Every Sunday from 1 to 3 pm, the orchard hosts free live music alongside lawn games, wine and cider slushies, happy-hour pricing on flights, and mini charcuterie boxes. Picnic tables are first-come, first-served, so it's easy to settle in without a reservation. Pick up specialty cheeses, cured meats, crackers, and preserves and choose from a selection of non-alcoholic beverages from the wine shop to build a picnic on the spot, or bring your own from home. Weekend visits are worth timing carefully: the winery's well-known cream puffs are made fresh in-house every Saturday and Sunday in rotating flavours like mango passionfruit, blueberry cheesecake, and raspberry chocolate, a treat kids will remember, but they sell out fast.

Blind Tiger Vineyards

Blind Tiger Vineyards is a family and pet-friendly winery that overlooks Wood Lake in Lake Country, with non-alcoholic offerings alongside the wine list. Roaming farm animals, including friendly dogs, cats, and the resident vineyard chickens, are part of the charm, and a working organic garden is open for escorted visits. Kids can burn off energy with cornhole and lawn games in the shaded seating area while the wood-fired pizza cooks, and Friday brings live music. Intrigue Wines
