2026 Municipal Elections: Strengthening Tourism Advocacy

Join the Tourism Industry Association of BC (TIABC) from 12-1 p.m. on September 9 for a special webinar focused on strengthening tourism advocacy ahead of the 2026 municipal elections.

Hosted by TIABC CEO, Amber Papou, and featuring Mark Jiles, President & CEO of Bluestone Government Relations, the session will provide practical guidance on using TIABC’s Municipal Election Toolkit, engaging effectively with candidates, and communicating the value of tourism within local communities. Registration can be completed through Zoom. 


Business After Hours & Coffee Socials

Central Okanagan community organizations and business improvement associations regularly host business coffee socials and business after-hours events.

This month, Tourism Kelowna is proud to join OYP Collective in hosting its Young Professionals Coffee Social from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on September 22 at the Kelowna Visitor Centre. Attendance is free, but advance registration through Eventbrite is recommended.

FH&P Speaker Series: Women in Business

Join Nancy Ling, Managing Partner at FH&P, for this one free event: The Legal Things Business Owners Often Put Off...Until They Become a Problem. The in-person event takes place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on September 17 at the FH&P Lawyers' office. The event will include time for networking, as well as complimentary beverages and light appetizers. Visit the FH&P website to learn more and to register. 


Driving Bookings with Sustainability Certification

On September 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., GreenStep Founder and CEO Angela Nagy will moderate an online discussion—with speakers from Booking.com and Tourisme Montreal—bringing together perspectives on how to substantiate sustainability claims, what travellers and guests are asking for, and the role internationally recognized certification plays in sustainability performance, booking demand, and credibility. Climate Action Program

The City of Kelowna has partnered with GreenStep to offer a free, three-session Climate Action Program designed to help local businesses save money, reduce their environmental footprint, and build long-term resilience.

Each online session is one hour and focuses on practical steps your business can take, from cutting energy costs to reducing waste and sourcing locally. Participants leave with a personalized climate action plan, access to one-on-one coaching, a certificate of completion, and recognition as a climate leader in the community.

Two cohorts are running this fall: Wednesdays starting September 23 and Thursdays starting October 29. Registration is now open—no sustainability expertise required.
