Earlier this week Tourism Kelowna, City of Kelowna, and PacificSport Okanagan hosted over 30 representatives of various local sport organizations in an effort to increase communication, education, and collaboration between the three groups and the local community. Hosted at Parkinson Recreation Centre, Tourism Kelowna presented a summary of our Sport and Events Department’s role and how our services can benefit their individual sports.
At its core, our Sport and Events Department generates overnight visitation. We do this by prospecting or servicing events and sports competitions that we believe Kelowna has the capacity to host and that will result in a high demand of room nights for our hotels and tourism business. Constant collaboration and communication allows us to not only efficiently target specific events of interest, but also to act as a representative for the local groups and Kelowna when inquiring and securing potential bid opportunities.
Our Sport and Events Department is working hard to make Kelowna a top sport and event destination in Canada.
