Being featured in Chatelaine’s Food and Travel pages last month was a tremendous honour. It didn’t stop there. Kelowna has been featured again in this month’s (November) issue as the on-location setting for magazine’s epic fashion feature!
Coverage in back-to-back issues of Canada’s highest paid circulation magazine means that the millions of readers across the country (primarily women, and with an interest in travel) will have learned information on Kelowna on two occasions in very short order. The first occasion will have informed them of Kelowna’s food and wine experiences. Then this already-familiar crowd will see a photo driven feature with a distinctly nostalgic and elegant take on traveling in Kelowna, reinforcing their understanding of the “agriculturally gifted region” (from October 2013) with a fashion-forward perspective. The overall effect is a very powerful presentation of Kelowna to our travel markets throughout Canada as a fashionable, foodie, and scenically striking part of Canada.
The shoot for the November issue took place in mid-August, when the Style team from Chatelaine came out, hosted by our Tourism Kelowna team. They stayed at the Cove Lakeside Resort and scouted several locations over 2 days, settling on the locations featured in the magazine and conducting shoots over the following 2 days, coordinated by Tourism Kelowna. We’d like to thank all our tourism partners involved in the scouting and shoot itself, as well as community partners BC Tree Fruits, Country RV, and Budget Car & Truck Rental. We couldn’t have done it without you!
