Last fiscal left us optimistic that this market is continuing to mount a comeback.  At the six meetings trade shows that we attended it was obvious that Kelowna’s brand as a great meeting destination has grown.  This coupled with increased propensity for corporate groups to meet again should position Kelowna well.  Working with our stakeholder partners we hosted twelve different planners last year which led to them signing contracts for meetings here in Kelowna.  As well, we changed the way we host planners.  Rather than bringing in groups we have found it more effective to host a single planner at a time for a personalized and intense one or two day familiarization tour.   We continue to build our sales efforts embracing social media as a way to approach potential clients, while continuing the traditional sales call to maintain relationships.  We reached our lead room night goal, but with larger groups, still fell short or our total lead target.  We are confident that these numbers will continue to grow as corporations realize the benefit of face to face meetings and incentive travel.
