Industry Alert: Invoices

Recently, numerous tourism businesses from Kelowna and across the Okanagan Valley received a ‘negative-option’ invoice for an annual listing subscription on a website called; however, businesses did not request or seek out this advertising opportunity. Tourism Kelowna was notified of these invoices by some of our partners; in response, we issued a bulletin to alert our participating stakeholders of the situation and to confirm that our organization was not in any way affiliated with this company.
With LGBT+ travel on the rise, it is more important than ever to ensure travellers in this growing market know that Kelowna and its surrounding communities are open and welcoming to everyone. To provide the tourism industry with an understanding of "how to effectively understand, value, and serve LGBT+ customers  and employees,"  CGLCC (Canada's LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce), in partnership with Tourism HR Canada (THRC) and the Government of Canada, are conducting a complimentary LGBT+ Inclusion Training session here in Kelowna on March 13, 2019.
UBC Okanagan has won the bid to host the inaugural Canada West Golf Championships this fall at the Okanagan Golf Club. Canada West, the conference within U Sports that is represented by 17 post-secondary institutions across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, announced Kelowna as the 2019 host at their semi-annual meeting last week.
