In collaboration with Mission Hill Family Estate, our Business Development Consultants, Pat Gappmayr and Nicolle Gomez de Sousa, hosted 16 meeting planners from across Canada in a guided virtual wine tasting.

The event took place on September 30, with Mission Hill’s Head Sommelier, Bram Bolwijn, expertly guiding the group through three gorgeous wines: the Exhilaration Brut Rose, Reserve Chardonnay, and Vista’s Edge Cabernet Franc. Thanks to the efforts of the team at Mission Hill, each planner received a shipment containing the three wines, along with some cheese and crackers, making it easy for them to take part in the virtual event.

In addition to guiding the group through the tasting, Bram was able to provide a clear understanding of the favorable geography and climate that lends itself to producing such a variety of grapes in the Okanagan Valley.  A video captured by drone allowed the clients to see Mission Hill’s beautiful location and learn about their iconic winery.  By participating in this virtual wine tasting, clients were able to see first hand how Mission Hill can provide an elevated group experience either virtually or in person.

As this was Tourism Kelowna’s first virtual wine tasting client event, the team was delighted that clients were so engaged and enthusiastic and felt they were transported to Kelowna while virtually visiting Mission Hill Family Estate. The event built off our ongoing Wellness Wednesday emails, which we have been sending to our clients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in order to stay connected and to offer resources to help facilitate health and wellness during this unprecedented time.
