UBC Okanagan Heat Softball will host the Canadian Collegiate Softball Association (CCSA) National Championship in Kelowna from October 9 – 11, 2020. Tourism Kelowna and the City of Kelowna enthusiastically supported this bid as UBCO Heat Softball enters its second season in the Western Collegiate Softball Association.

“Kelowna is a passionate sports city and we are proud that our demonstrated success in attracting national championship events ranks us as Canada’s number-one sport hosting city in our size category,” said Lisanne Ballantyne, President & CEO of Tourism Kelowna.

The National Championship will welcome the top eight teams from Universities and Colleges across Canada and will mark the first time the event is held in British Columbia.

"I am thrilled for our players and confident our staff, athletics department, and the organizing committee will do everything it takes to put on a top-notch event," said Heat Head Coach, Joni Frei. UBC Okanagan Athletic Director, Tom Huisman, called the awarding of the championship “a national level endorsement, not just for our program, but for the Kelowna and greater Okanagan softball communities."
