Through its Tourism Skills Training Program, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) is preparing participants for jobs in the tourism and hospitality sectors. Tourism businesses in the region can support and work with program participants in several ways.

Mentoring
  • From March 18 to June 3, mentors will be asked to meet with a program participant virtually for one hour per week to provide them with guidance and support.

Job Postings & Work Placements
  • If you’re looking to add to your team, submit your job postings to TOTA, who will be matching program participants with work placements and providing employers with potential candidates.

Virtual Job Fair
  • Program participants and prospective employers can meet virtually through a job fair on April 22.

About the Tourism Skills Training Program

The Tourism Skills Training (TST) Certification for Domestic Tourism is a certification program delivered by the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA) in cooperation with the University of Victoria-Peter B. Gustavson School of Business and supported by the Province of British Columbia.

Developed in response to the decline of international tourism and the increase in domestic tourism in 2021, this free full-time online program will support people whose jobs have been impacted by COVID-19, as well as help Thompson Okanagan businesses capitalize on domestic tourism through skills development for the region's tourism labour force.
