Thanks to funding from the provincial government, the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association (TOTA), in conjunction with the University of Victoria-Peter B. Gustavson School of Business, will be delivering a 13-week online program focused on preparing participants with the skills needed to work in the tourism industry.
The free Tourism Skills Training (TST) Program, which was developed in part to support people whose jobs have been impacted by COVID-19, will include both online sessions, individual and team coursework, and more. As part of the program, participants can look forward to participating in an online job fair, connecting them with employers in the region.
Applications for the program must be submitted by February 3. Interested applicants must reside in the Thompson Okanagan and be 15 years of age or older, with priority given to marginalized and underrepresented groups. This program, which will run from February 8 to May 5, is designed for those who are unemployed or for those who are looking to transition into full-time employment within the industry.
