Last week, our business development team hosted a virtual meeting for stakeholders participating in Tourism Kelowna's Meeting & Conference Cooperative Marketing Program.

Typically, this meeting would be a chance to review our business development events and activities throughout the year and share results to date; however, given that COVID-19 has paused our traditional initiatives over the last seven months, we instead focused on how our team adapted to our new virtual environment and nurtured our client relationships to ensure a quicker recovery once large scale meetings and events are once again permitted to take place.

Each member of our team shared updates and trends from their respective markets, while Melissa McCluskey provided information about our Meet in Kelowna social media channels. We also provided a quick update on the regional sector strategy with the Central Okanagan Economic Development Corporation and Accelerate Okanagan, which aligns with Destination Canada’s Business Events Economic Sector Strategy. Finally, our team walked partners through the 2021 Meeting and Conference Cooperative Marketing Program. The program takes into account that 2021 will continue to look different for our industry, but if we can adapt and change, we will ensure Kelowna and area is positioned well for recovery in this very important market.
