Canada's LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC), in partnership with Tourism HR Canada, is offering digital workshops and seminars for the tourism industry focused on LGBT+ diversity and inclusion, which are free for a limited time thanks to funding from the Government of Canada.

These opportunities are available to businesses in the tourism industry so they can be prepared to welcome Canadian LGBT+ travellers. According to CGLCC, results from recent national research show that 90 per cent of Canadian LGBT+ travellers have intentions of travelling within Canada this year since international travel remains uncertain, presenting an opportunity to help the industry recover from COVID-19—noted further is that this equates to a $12 billion leisure travel opportunity.

The Navigating LGBT+ Diversity and Inclusion in the Tourism Industry digital workshops will provide businesses with the knowledge to create inclusive and welcoming spaces and experiences for travellers. The workshop webinars will be offered to Western Canadian businesses on January 28, February 8, February 25, and March 10, from 9-1 p.m. PST (an online course must be completed in advance of the webinar).

Once the basics are covered, businesses can attend the LGBT+ Market-Ready Seminar to gain in-depth information about the LGBT+ travel market as well as best practices to use in their day-to-day operations and to create offerings for this important travel market. The two-hour seminar will be held on February 23 from 12-2 p.m. PST.

For additional information on these and other programs offered for both businesses and destinations, please visit the CGLCC website or connect via email.
