Born and raised in Dundas, a suburb of Hamilton, Ontario, Vanessa Osborne joined Tourism Kelowna's team in January 2024, taking on the role of Business Development Sales Manager for the Eastern Canadian and US markets.

Vanessa worked in the tourism, hospitality, and live-event sectors for seven years before joining Tourism Kelowna, building her experience and putting her enthusiasm for community-driven initiatives to good use. 

As Business Development Sales Manager, Vanessa identifies new markets and opportunities to elevate Kelowna's profile and economic impact, focusing on the Eastern Canadian & US markets.

"I leverage my passion for Kelowna to inspire event professionals to bring their business events to our region," says Vanessa. "My goal is to seamlessly integrate the objectives of both planners and local partners with the community's needs and growth of the visitor economy."

Vanessa adds that she wants her clients to see her not simply as a sales manager but as an "integral part of their team, working together towards shared success."

In her role, Vanessa also coordinates familiarization tours for planners, assists with bid preparation, provides hosting consultation for planners, and more. Tourism Kelowna members and industry partners in and around Kelowna can connect with Vanessa to find out more about Tourism Kelowna's business development activities in the Easter region or about the Meeting & Conference Sales Program. 

"At the core of my job, the most exciting, rewarding, and important aspect all intertwine seamlessly—storytelling," notes Vanessa. "Sharing the genuine stories of our vibrant culture, community warmth, and passion, I love painting a vivid picture of Kelowna's one-of-a-kind offerings. Through these stories, I hope to not only leave a lasting impression but also ignite curiosity, forge meaningful connections, and elevate the community and visitor experience."

In her spare time, you'll find Vanessa connecting with nature or adventuring outdoors with her husband, Douglas, and their Golden Retriever, Ollie.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVOURITE TRAVEL MEMORY?
  • Island hopping around Greece with my husband on our honeymoon. I was in awe of everything—the views, the history and culture, the architecture and cobblestone streets, you name it. Oh, and the olive trees…so many olive trees! The most memorable part was doing the most beautiful 10 km hike from Fira to Oia in Santorini.
What are your top 3 recommendations for things to do/see/explore in and around Kelowna?
  1. Wine Tasting: Our region has over 40 wineries, producing some of the world’s most sought-after wines. Sipping on Pinot Noir Rosé at 50th Parallel or Cipes Brut at Summerhill Pyramid Winery while enjoying the view of the sparkling Okanagan Lake is a must.
  2. Exploring Okanagan Lake: The lake offers year-round fun, with kayaking and paddleboarding in summer or skating lakeside in Stuart Park in the winter.
  3. Hiking & Outdoor Adventures: Discovering the scenic trails, from leisurely walks to challenging hikes, is the perfect way to recharge. If you’re looking for some added fun, check out the Kangaroo Creek Farm—there’s nothing like it!

  • The carbonara, followed by tiramisu and an espresso martini from Roma Nord Bistro! The food scene in Kelowna is truly top-notch, and the local owners and operators make you feel right at home.

  • I’m obsessed with pickleball! There's something so addictive about the fast-paced gameplay and strategy behind it.
