Here is an innovative initiative that we can all get involved with. Tartan Group, in partnership with the Ministry of Community, Sports and Cultural Development (CSCD) and Destination BC, is working over Spring / Summer 2015 to shine the spotlight on arts and culture events taking place across British Columbia, with the aim of driving tourism and engaging residents. The objective is to increase awareness and pride in our province’s rich and growing arts and culture sector, to demonstrate the value of the creative economy, and to showcase the thousands of cultural experiences for residents and visitors to explore while they travel in BC over the summer months and into the fall. The goal is to engage the community and build tourist awareness of BC’s arts and culture through an organic, grassroots approach.
Each partner and stakeholder plays a vital role in the execution of this plan: helping BC to tell the story of the many arts and culture experiences to explore in each region, community and city.
Tartan invites you to list your events and festivals for FREE on HelloBC.com. This site receives more than eight million visitors each year; and many visitors use the listings when planning their trips. You can easily upload your event information, pictures, and web site links here.
You may already us the #ExploreKelowna hashtag in your social media. Thousands of global visitors and BC residents currently use Destination BC’s #ExploreBC hashtag to share their favourite BC experiences: there are more than 500,000 pieces of online content currently available. Let’s join in on the conversation (#BCCulture) and give a loud shout out to B.C. culture. Tartan wants to know: what is your BC culture? Please encourage your friends and colleagues to use the #ExploreBC, #BCCulture, and #ExploreKelowna hashtags when posting photos to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Tumblr! Their team will continuously monitor the hashtags, encourage participation, and re-share content. Help us over the coming months to spread the word through your networks: via newsletters, web sites and social media channels.
