On December 14, Kelowna International Airport (YLW) announced that it was welcoming back Alaska Airlines' flight to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, offering non-stop flights between Kelowna and Seattle.

"We are delighted to have Alaska Airlines back at YLW, providing our passengers with more options to travel to the United States and beyond," said Sam Samaddar, YLW Chief Executive Officer.

Earlier this year, the airline had announced the route would only operate during the winter. The return of the route is welcome news for the tourism industry, particularly on the business events side of things, where our team concentrates on attracting meetings and conferences to Kelowna from Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

Tourism Kelowna President & CEO, Lisanne Ballantyne, travelled to Seattle earlier in the year alongside partners from YLW and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, meeting with Alaska Airlines to advocate for the return of flights between the two cities. For more information about the Seattle flights, visit alaskaair.com

Last week, YLW also celebrated WestJet's inaugural flight to Las Vegas, marking the return of a popular destination for Okanagan travellers. WestJet will operate flights to Las Vegas on Mondays and Fridays, offering more than 3,000 seats per month. Visit westjet.com for more information.
