On May 6, Tourism Kelowna will be celebrating Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) 2026, a worldwide initiative that highlights the economic and community impact of meetings, conferences, and events.

Community Activation

To mark the occasion, we’re inviting our members and tourism partners to participate in a simple community activation that showcases why meetings matter to Kelowna.

Tourism Kelowna will provide GMID participation cards with the prompt: “Meetings matter in Kelowna because…”

GMID 2026 Decal

We invite each member of your team to complete a card and share your perspective on the value meetings and events bring to our community.

How to participate
  • Complete your card(s) with your team
  • Our team will arrange delivery and pick-up of the cards at a time that’s convenient for you
  • We will curate and feature submissions in a display at the Kelowna Visitor Centre and through our online channels

If you would like to participate in the card activation, email me at julia@tourismkelowna.com, and we will coordinate delivery with you.

GMID Coffee Social

We will also be hosting a coffee social on Wednesday, May 6, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Kelowna Visitor Centre to celebrate GMID and invite members and tourism partners, particularly those individuals who support meetings and business events, to join us!

Kick off your day by stopping in at the Kelowna Visitor Centre between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. to say hello, enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat, and connect with fellow industry members.

Don't miss this opportunity to celebrate the business events industry and the important role it plays in supporting Kelowna’s tourism economy—register here. The deadline to secure your spot is May 4, 2026.
