Tourism Kelowna stakeholders will soon receive an online survey being issued this week to tourism businesses throughout the Kelowna area. The survey has been commissioned by Tourism Kelowna and the City of Kelowna as part of a broader study designed to assess the housing needs of tourism sector employees.

Access to affordable housing is often cited as a significant recruitment and retention challenge in Kelowna’s busy tourism and hospitality market. The 14-question survey will quantify these issues and, later in the year, inform the broader study to identify best practice solutions that will support the long-term growth of the industry.

This research partnership will also inform ongoing discussions between Tourism Kelowna and the City of Kelowna to determine the best use of the component of the Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) funds that are collected by online accommodations platforms (OAP) and currently allocated to affordable housing initiatives.

The survey should arrive in your inbox later this week. Please take a moment to fill it out to help us better understand your business and any labour challenges you may be experiencing. We will keep you posted on the results and the next steps.
