As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and non-essential travel is discouraged, we have been adapting our marketing activities and have turned our focus to the local market. Traditionally, in the winter, we would be advertising to a wide audience, encouraging travel to our area to enjoy the Okanagan champagne powder, winter wine tours, and amazing culinary delights, but now is the time to stay local and support local.
To reinforce this message, we have teamed up with KelownaNow to encourage residents to #exploreKelownalocal. As of January 19, you’ll see plenty of tourism-related content encouraging locals to safely and responsibly enjoy their own backyard when you visit KelownaNow.com.
Launching with 10 Days of Giveaways featuring a wide array of local businesses, as well as a featured article filled with inspiration to stay local and support local, the campaign will allow us to reach more residents of the Central Okanagan by highlighting activities, attractions, and experiences that locals can take part in this winter. In addition, content pieces encouraging safe and responsible exploring featuring even more businesses will be published weekly through mid-March to keep tourism businesses top of mind.
By building interest and connecting residents with tourism opportunities, we are able to highlight how tourism contributes to the quality of life in the Central Okanagan through providing valuable jobs, expanding cultural activities, and celebrating the beauty of the place we call home.
