On January 19, we kicked off our #exploreKelownalocal campaign with KelownaNow. The goal of the campaign is to connect residents with more information on how to get out into the community and support local tourism businesses.
Starting with 10 Days of Giveaways, the contests drew in over 3,700 entries, with 48% of entrants signing up to our weekly newsletter, which will provide us with opportunities to continue connecting them with ways to #exploreKelownalocal, with the ultimate goal of driving more traffic to our local businesses during the winter season and beyond.
Another positive note from contest entries were the results from two market research questions:
- Do you feel that supporting our local tourism industry will have a positive economic impact on Kelowna?
- Do you feel that local residents play an important role in the success of Kelowna’s tourism industry?
Respondents overwhelmingly responded that they agree with both questions, which is a great indicator of support for our industry now and into the future.
The campaign will continue through March with weekly content pieces published every Wednesday and three additional staycation prize packages coming soon. The contests have proven that there is an appetite to explore locally and we hope to continue to engage and inform residents of all the great activities to take part in and businesses to support.
