Emergency Preparedness Week runs from May 5-11, 2019, and is an "opportunity to encourage Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies."

The Government of BC has compiled a number of resources online so individuals can learn about regional hazards, make a plan, and build an emergency kit. These resources also include a guide and an emergency plan template for tourism operators.

When weather-related emergencies arise in Kelowna and its surrounding communities, Tourism Kelowna's team is prepared to:

  1. Assess the impact and share market information with our stakeholders.
  2. Work in close collaboration with industry, government, and tourism marketing partners to collaborate on messaging and response.
  3. Promote accurate, real-time information to potential visitors.
  4. Connect current visitors with a wide array of tourism experiences that are not weather dependent.
