Emergency Preparedness Week runs from May 5-11, 2019, and is an "opportunity to encourage Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies."
The Government of BC has compiled a number of resources online so individuals can learn about regional hazards, make a plan, and build an emergency kit. These resources also include a guide and an emergency plan template for tourism operators.
When weather-related emergencies arise in Kelowna and its surrounding communities, Tourism Kelowna's team is prepared to:
- Assess the impact and share market information with our stakeholders.
- Work in close collaboration with industry, government, and tourism marketing partners to collaborate on messaging and response.
- Promote accurate, real-time information to potential visitors.
- Connect current visitors with a wide array of tourism experiences that are not weather dependent.
