Kelowna’s tourism industry generates $1.25 billion in economic impact annually. As this important economic driver continues to grow it becomes increasingly important that local residents support and understand the value of tourism and in turn, feel that a strong visitor economy is benefitting their quality of life.
In order to measure local sentiment, Tourism Kelowna has partnered with an independent polling company to survey Kelowna residents throughout the week of September 16. This short, automated phone survey takes approximately 3 minutes to complete and will provide valuable perspective on how Kelowna residents believe tourism impacts their city and their daily life.
Focus group discussions will follow later this year to provide even more detailed insight into resident’s feedback. The survey will take place annually in order to monitor change and results will be shared with stakeholders.
As a research-based, destination marketing organization, Tourism Kelowna conducts other annual surveys to measure visitor satisfaction as well as tourism stakeholder satisfaction levels. The addition of an annual residents’ survey ensures we are hearing from our three key audiences – valuable inputs for future destination development plans that will support the growth of the city and the region.
