Tourism Kelowna's Director of Marketing and Communications, Chris Shauf, has been reappointed to Destination BC's (DBC) Tourism Marketing Committee (TMC), which includes three members from each of the province's six tourism regions.

The committee provides strategic advice to DBC’s Board of Directors and CEO related to:

  • Marketing strategies for the organization. 
  • Performance metrics to track the success of the organization’s tourism marketing activities and the performance of the tourism sector.
  • Ways to use Destination BC funds to leverage private and public sector tourism marketing funds. 

Chris has been a member of the TMC since 2019 and in 2021 served as the Vice-Chair. He represents the Thompson Okanagan region alongside SilverStar Mountain Resort's Director of Sales, Marketing, and Accommodation, Ian Jenkins, and the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association's President and CEO, Ellen Walker-Matthews.

Originally from Saskatchewan, Chris has a business degree from the University of Regina and is accredited by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS). Chris brought 15 years of experience working in media relations, marketing, and communications and more than 10 years of senior leadership experience with him when he joined Tourism Kelowna in 2016. 

In his current leadership role, Chris oversees Tourism Kelowna's marketing and communications team. Chris’ extensive marketing and brand experience, along with his creative and forward-thinking mindset, have contributed to Tourism Kelowna's position as a leader in destination marketing. Chris has been instrumental in guiding the organization through the pandemic, pivoting alongside team members, stakeholders, and colleagues to market our region within the confines of ongoing restrictions and ever-changing guidelines.
