The Kelowna Visitor Centre now has a fully-branded charging station for visitors and local residents to use while they are exploring downtown Kelowna. The charging station has 13 lockers where users can set a code and charge their device worry-free. It will be available for use whenever the visitor centre is open; fall/winter hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., seven days per week.

This particular charging station was chosen due to the security of devices while they are being charged, as well as the sustainable practices of the company which sells these charging stations. It was purchased from the Canadian headquarters of Growcharge Inc., located in Calgary, Alberta. Growcharge plants 50 trees in North America for every charging station sold, which offsets natural resources that are depleted by being a provider and consumer of energy.

Jim Neal, CEO of Growcharge states: "On a grander scale; think that for every 200 units that we rent or sell, we will plant 10,000 trees on 10 acres of land and help restore our forests for future generations. Did you know that 10 acres of trees can remove up to 26 tons of carbon dioxide each year?”
