Catherine Frechette

At the end of the summer Tourism Kelowna will be saying goodbye to Catherine Frechette, an incredible Kelowna advocate and outstanding professional.  For over 11 years Catherine Frechette has been Tourism Kelowna’s Communications Manager in charge of generating travel editorial and handling corporate communications.   She’s been so effective in this role that she has secured travel media coverage with a circulation/audience totaling one half-billion!  We have recognized her value to our tourism industry for many years and it is now evident that others have too.

Although we are very sad to see Catherine go, we are thrilled that she has been selected by Ottawa Tourism as their new Director of Destination Development.   Our Nation’s Capital will surely embrace Catherine as she delves into her new role that includes:  product development; economic development integration; advocacy; visitor experience development; building relationships with local, provincial, and national stakeholders/partners; strategic planning; and tourism master plan development.

The garnering of editorial coverage is a key marketing tactic and Catherine has proven to be extraordinarily successful.  Her highlights are many including the landing of the inaugural Amazing Race Canada television show where Kelowna was discovered by over 8 million Canadian viewers.   Articles in the San Francisco Chronicle, enRoute, Chatelaine, Huffington Post, Sunset Magazine, Toronto Star, Hemispheres, SilverKris, and WestJet magazine just to name a few, have been integral to positioning the Central Okanagan as a pre-eminent Western Canadian destination.

We would like to express our extreme appreciation for her commitment to Tourism Kelowna, and our sincere congratulations and best wishes.
