Eleven of Canada’s top chefs are sharpening their knives and preparing for a tasty battle here in Kelowna.

The Canadian Culinary Championships presented by Deloitte will again be held in Kelowna this weekend. The prestigious event that brings in food-lovers from across Canada has been held here since 2011, and Kelowna will continue to host the signature event through to 2020. The event further boosts our destination’s profile as Canada’s food and wine hot spot.

The event offers three rounds of intense challenges for the leading chefs who have already battled their way through regional competitions. A pan-Canadian team of food and wine critics will award gold, silver, and bronze following the grand finale.

  • Round 1 – Mystery Wine Pairing: Each chef develops a dish with local Kelowna and Okanagan Valley ingredients to pair with a mystery bottle of wine.
  • Round 2 – Black Box: With 10-minutes notice, chefs prepare and plate one dish in one hour using seven special and unique ingredients out of the black box.
  • Round 3 – Grand Finale: Chefs create their best dish to pair with a wine from their regional winery partner, followed by a celebration with entertainment featuring John Mann, Geoffrey Kelly and Matthew Harder of Spirit of the West, and the legendary Barney Bentall.

As Gold Sponsor, Tourism Kelowna has profiled our destination at 10 regional events in cities across Canada including: Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto, Ottawa, Regina, Saskatoon, St John’s, Victoria, and Winnipeg, inviting travelers to come to Kelowna and the Central Okanagan to enjoy the abundance of great food, wine, and attractions.
