This concert celebrates the lush and visceral music of the French romantics before the impressionists came on the scene. Berlioz uses two sets of timpani to drench the Royal hunting party in a ferocious storm. Lalo imprints the influence of his Spanish heritage onto a Germanic structure in this symphonic concerto which will show off Timothy Chooi's fiery technique. Saint-Saens added the organ, the king of instruments to elevate the impact of his Symphony No.3. This is symphony music of power and panache.
At the heart of the OSO we strive to create opportunity for everyone in our community. To inspire people of all ages with the beauty and magic of live orchestral music. We understand not everyone can attend one of our evening performances and because of this we open up Friday afternoon rehearsals for various Masterworks concert series. If you are someone who can’t make an evening performance please consider attending one of our Open Dress rehearsals. Rehearsals start at 2 pm on a performance Friday and take place at the Kelowna Community Theater ending by 4:30 pm. You do not need a ticket and it is a come and go as you please. A suggested $10 donation per person is appreciated.
