Saturday June 3rd, registration 8:30 AM, Workshops 9 - 11 am, by JJ Guy and Gordon Stobbe - these are award winning Canadian Fiddle Camp instructors, who have taught across Canada to all levels and ages of musicians. Must bring your own fiddle and have some experience playing.
Saturday June 3rd - Concerts start at 1 PM - 2 PM with Kelowna Old Time Fiddlers; Kelowna Old time Fiddlers is a non profit society that has a mandate to promote fiddling and the violin in British Columbia since 1979 and information about them is at www.bcfiddlers.com/branch7.
From 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM Gordon Stobbe and JJ Guy will be accompanied by Annette Fischer on the chromatic accordion. Gordon Stobbe was awarded the Order of Canada for his contribution to Fiddling in Canada and Lifetime achievement award from the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association, he hosted and produced the television show "Up Home Tonight" for 8 seasons. Gordon has authored and published 27 Fiddle books that include traditional and original fiddle music as well as many CD's. Most recently he has gone on tour with JJ Guy and Twin Fiddles throughout Canada's west and North mentoring youth, performing and composing.
JJ Guy, from Saskatchewan, started performing at a young age at many shows and dances across Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba with his two sisters in a family band. In recent years JJ has played many shows and festivals with the Bluegrass and Old Time group, "Lone Tree Road" which has released several albums. His years of stage experience keeps him in demand and his busy schedule has allowed him to work with some of the biggest names in the fiddle and acoustic music world. JJ gives workshops and performs across Canada and travels with Gordon Stobbe as part of Twin Fiddles. He was inducted into the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame for his weekly Facebook show "Fiddling with JJ" during 2 years of shutdown by COVID - he inspired many fiddlers to continue with music during this difficult time.
Annette Fisher has been playing the chromatic accordion since the was 10 years and at 14 years she played with an accordion orchestra with 20-30 accordionists in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Italy. When she moved to Canada she discovered fiddle music and is happy to accompany fiddlers.
Saturday evening 7 PM - 9:30 an "old time" country "called" dance - Gordon will lead novices and experienced square dancers in some called Squares and will also play some traditional Waltzes, Polkas and Foxtrots in the mix. All ages from children to adults can join in the fun - no experience needed.
Ticket prices - Friday Jam by donation; Saturday Concerts and Dance $20 and the dance by itself is $8. Accompanied children under 12 no charge
Saturday morning workshops are $30 for all ages. Registration 6:30 PM on Friday or 8:30 AM on Saturday
