It has been six years since Rollingdale Winery released an estate-grown Icewine; however, this season, the winemakers left a small section of their organic Pinot Blanc to freeze. These grapes will be turned into a rich, caramel-flavoured nectar that you will be able to sip when the wine gets bottled this summer.

Brendan Smith, associate winemaker at Rollingdale, describes this vintage showing heavy notes of peach, plantains, and apricots. Only about 1,000 bottles will be available.

Expected to be ready by this summer, Grizzli’s upcoming vintage of their Sauvignon Blanc Icewine will have you taking in aromas of peaches and mangoes with a slight hint of honey.

This Icewine’s previous vintage won Best of Class and Best of Show at the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition in 2018, and it is currently sold out. Predictions suggest that the 2014 vintage will be similar to its predecessor.

Just picked in February 2019, Summerhill Winery’s 2019 Ehrenfelser Icewine is anticipated to be released this fall.

With tropical notes of mango and pineapple as well as great citrus notes, the high sugars will require a bit of a slow ferment. But it is going to be well worth the wait - the last vintage won gold at the National Wine Awards of Canada, and this next one is forecast to be even better.
