Glide Down on Soft Champagne Powder

Big White Ski Resort

With regular moisture moving in from the west combined with cold air moving down our valley from the north, our climate is made to produce the best powdery snow for winter sports! Big White Ski Resort is less than an hour’s drive away from Kelowna so you can enjoy skiing and city nightlife all in one trip.

Many hotels have winter and ski specials that include your lift ticket so you can maximize your time on the slopes and head straight onto the snow when you arrive on the mountain.

Have people in your group who don’t ski or board? There are many other things to do! Head to the spa on the mountain to relax and rejuvenate, skate on Canada’s highest elevation ice rink, glide down the tube ride or take in the fresh air on the snowshoe trails.

Don’t forget to check out the lights and decorations along the water on foot or on skates! Downtown Kelowna’s Stuart Park turns into a skating rink through the winter season. Free to the public, the rink is open every day from December to February. Hours are typically 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a closure between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. for rink maintenance. Skates and helmets are available for rent most days from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. View the live webcam available online here!

Winter Wine Touring

Winter is a great season to wine tour, no matter the weather! Many of Kelowna’s wineries are open year-round.

The best part about checking out the wineries at this time of year is that there are fewer wait times, and visitors often have more time to chat and learn from the knowledgable staff.
